SmartClient Update – version 2.2.3

$

0

This week we are pushing out a minor update to the Celigo SmartClient that addresses several issues our customers have been experiencing. These issues are somewhat specific to the customer’s account and centered around the Time Bill record. Therefore, if you are an existing customer, you can safely skip this update unless you require any of the enhancements/fixes described below.

Override the cache for Slaved Column values

The SmartClient depends heavily on its internal cache of NetSuite data for its performance and responsiveness. However, sometimes data in NetSuite contains relationships that cannot be easily replicated in the cache. This is particularly true with slaved (a.k.a “sourced”) columns. This meant that in certain cases, the cache was getting in the way of looking up the correct value if you have the same slaved value for multiple master values.

For example, take the Time Bill record. Suppose you have 2 customers, and you have 2 tasks created for each customer with the same name.

CustomerCustomer Internal IDTaskTask Internal ID
ABC11Arrange Meeting123
XYZ22Arrange Meeting124

If you use the SmartClient to enter time for both tasks, you will find that one of the updates will fail citing an error such as “Invalid casetaskevent reference key 123 for customer 22″

As you can see, since the SmartClient caches 123 as the Internal ID corresponding to “Arrange Meeting”, it attempts to apply the same ID for the second record which results in this error.

There’s no automated way to get around this. So, we added an option that will allow the user to tell the SmartClient to ignore the cached values when trying to resolve values for sourced fields. Turn this on by clicking on “Options” from the SmartClient toolbar and then going in to Caching and Performance.

The SmartClient will now always scan NetSuite for slaved values and therefore will not run in to the above issue. However, please note that the SmartClient would now need to query NetSuite Web Services (possibly multiple times) per each record and therefore processing will be much slower while the option is turned on. We recommend that you turn on this feature only when there are such duplicated slaved values.

Time Entry specific fixes

  • The previous version of the SmartClient did not contain mappings for the sourcing of Payroll Item field. While the user could create these mappings herself, we’ve now baked this in to the product. Payroll Item field should now work as expected out of the box.
  • A bug in the SmartClient was preventing users with Employee Center roll from entering values for fields sourced from the Employee. For example, if you typed in a valid value in to the Customer / Project cell and tab out, the SmartClient will display an error asking you to “Select employee before looking up values for this field”. The workaround for this issue was to change the column type of the Employee field to “Free Text (Internal ID)” and then entering the internal ID of the employee. We’ve fixed this issue so that Employee field can be any column type, including Drop Down or Real-time Lookup.

What’s next?

We are currently looking at upgrading the SmartClient to the NetSuite WSDL version 2012.1. The SmartClient is currently connecting to version 2010.1 of the Web Services endpoint. While 2010.1 will continue to be supported by NetSuite for years to come, we’re making this upgrade as NetSuite has introduced some breaking changes in their new platform that are affecting several of our SmartClient customers.

Since a WSDL upgrade is a major change to a product such as the SmartClient, we anticipate the release to take at least a couple of months to get through the regression testing cycle. If however, you would like to get your hands on the private beta running against 2012.1, please do send us a note and we will get back to you as soon as the beta is ready. If you have already logged a support case related to 2012.1 changes, you are already in the list for beta customers and will be notified as soon as we are ready to ship.

SmartClient for Excel 2003 Discontinued

We’d also like to announce that we will no longer be maintaining the SmartClient version for Excel 2003. We’ve seen that the vast majority of our customers have upgraded to either Office 2007 or 2010. While we will continue to host the previous release of the 2003 version, we will not be making any updates.

If you already have the SmartClient installed, use the Check for Updates button on the SmartClient toolbar to get the latest version or download it here.

Celigo and Web Cube have announced the launch of an advanced software integrator which allows businesses to seamlessly integrate their Web Cube e-commerce stores with the ERP system NetSuite.

The Celigo Integrator for Web Cube creates an advanced integration with the full back-office functionality of NetSuite and maintains an automatic line of communication between the two systems. Orders, returns, and credits captured in Web Cube are automatically inserted into NetSuite, while fulfillment and shipping information are exported back into Web Cube. The Celigo Integrator also synchs inventory between the two systems, automatically updating and maintaining inventory levels from NetSuite into Web Cube.

“As the e-commerce platform designed specifically for brands, we are always looking for ways to extend Web Cube through integrations into our clients’ existing systems,” says Aaron Cuker, CEO of Web Cube. “The Celigo Integrator for Web Cube provides our clients with a streamlined fulfillment process that automatically synchs with their ERP system in NetSuite.”

Celigo Salesforce Connector is now available on Salesforce Professional Edition

Today we are announcing the general availability of verison 1.1 of Celigo Salesforce Connector. With this release, we are bringing the Connector to customers on Salesforce Professional Edition which has been unsupported up to now.

The Salesforce Connector was architected to utilize advanced features of the Salesforce API. However, this meant that the Connector would only support the higher-end editions of Salesforce such as Enterprise and Unlimited. Couple of months ago, we set out to build some workarounds that would enable us to make the Connector run on the Professional Editions; and with version 1.1, we’ve been able to achieve this goal despite a few limitations.

If you are a Professional Edition customer who’s been on the look out for a streamlined solution to integrate Salesforce with NetSuite, we encourage you to head over to our Help Center and read through the functionality that’s available to you with the Celigo Salesforce Connector. Also be sure to read through the FAQ for limitations that affect  customers on the Professional Edition.

Is OpenID SSO getting in the way? Try CloudExtend Gmail’s new Sign-on method

$
0
0

When we started building CloudExtend, we made sure we stuck to the best practices that would ensure the safety of your data. The use of industry standard OpenID Single Sign-on was one such measure. OpenID lets end users or user sanctioned applications to sign in to supported websites without needing to re-type credentials or having to entrust third-party applications with those credentials. The adaptation of OpenID by both Google and NetSuite paved the way for seamless cloud based integrations such as CloudExtend for Google Apps.

OpenID Single Sign-on works well for users who use a single, custom role to access NetSuite. However, working with NetSuite’s OpenID Single Sign-on could be a real chore for users who do not fall in to this category. Here are some of the frequent complaints we’ve heard from such users.

  • The OpenID permission cannot be added to a standard NetSuite role. So, as part of the setup, the Administrator needs to create custom roles for all CloudExtend Gmail users, just to grant this permission. For the Administrator, this is particularly frustrating as it’s extremely tedious to mirror an Administrator role to a custom role.
  • Because of the constraint above, Administrators tend to create “CloudExtend only” custom roles for users in addition to their regular role. The custom role would generally have just the OpenID permissions and a minimum set of permissions needed to make use of other CloudExtend Gmail features. This works fine as long as the user is working on the Gmail interface. However, when switching back to NetSuite interface, users would find that they are logged in to this limited role and that NetSuite is preventing them from switching to their regular roles without first logging out.
  • When your session times out while being logged in via OpenID, rather than locking the user interface, NetSuite will log the user out completely.

You can read more on the OpenID setup process and session related nuances on the NetSuite Help Center.

While we  expect NetSuite’s Open ID process will improve over time, it became clear that we had to offer an alternative to our users. The result is the Standard Sign-On method which reuses the session that your browser creates with NetSuite. This is in contrast with the OpenID method which always try to establish a session that holds OpenID permissions. The Standard Sign-On will check whether you are currently logged in to NetSuite and funnel all your interactions with CloudExtend Gmail to through the same session. If a valid session did not exist, CloudExtend will present you with an option to log in to NetSuite directly from the Gmail interface.

Notice that you still have the option to login via OpenID. Therefore, as long as your account is configured to use OpenID, you will still be able to switch back to using OpenID SSO. CloudExtend will remember which sign-on method you chose and present that as the default option for sign on. While OpenID provides the best level of security, Standard Sign-on is still secure as CloudExtend logs you directly in to NetSuite over SSL and does not cache or transmit your credentials through external servers.

Standard Sign-On will be rolled out with the next update to CloudExtend and will be available to all users with no additional configuration. If you are one of the users that have run in to issues with OpenID, please do try out this new login method. On the other hand, if you are looking to deploy CloudExtend for the first time, you’ll be happy to know that getting your users to opt for Standard Sign-on will let you skip an entire page of our installation guide.

Merchant Connector for ChannelAdvisor gets FBA Order Import and bunch of more features…

Back in June, we updated our ChannelAdvisor Connector to support version 5 of the ChannelAdvisor API without much fanfare. This was to lay the groundwork for bunch of features that we are announcing today to be “generally available” for deployment.

Import FBA Orders as Cash Sales

Orders imported from ChannelAdvisor account’s Amazon FBA Channel will be imported to NetSuite as Cash Sales rather than Sales Orders. The regular Sales Order Import flow will no longer scan this channel. Instead, the new FBA Import flow will look for orders that have been recorded as fulfilled by Amazon and will import them to NetSuite allowing you to record the sale in NetSuite without any additional effort.

Improved Fulfillments Export flow

The Fulfillments Export flow (formally called the Shipping Sync) has been revamped to support partial fulfillments and to export all tracking number data regardless of carrier. If you are moving up from a previous version, you should notice significant improvement in performance of this flow as well.

Additional record types supported by the Item Export flow

Support for Serialized and Lot Numbered item types were added to the Item Export flow. With this update, the ChannelAdvisor Connector supports the following record types for Item Export:

  • Standard Inventory Item
  • Standard Assembly Item
  • Kit Item
  • Lot Numbered Inventory Item
  • Serialized Inventory Item
  • Lot Numbered Assembly Item
  • Serialized Inventory Item

You can find the complete list of changes in the Release Notes. Please contact your Celigo sales rep to learn more if you wish to upgrade.

Within the next few days we will be rolling out a new iteration of our Google Apps based productivity suite.

In this release, we are unveiling a new interface to guide NetSuite Administrators through the installation of CloudExtend. This Setup Wizard packs many of the configuration steps that were spread across the application and there by make it a breeze to install and reconfigure product. You can learn more about the wizard here.

(Actual interface may differ from the image in the initial release).

We’ve also included few enhancements and fixes for CloudExtend Google Calendar. For the full list of these changes, please see the release notes for version 1.6.

A Pretty Cool SuiteBundle To Import And Export CSV Files

$

0

It’s all described on our website, and yes we have a video out there too.  But I want to talk here (informally) about why this is such a cool bundle and how it could possibly be used – in ways that are not all obvious.

Before I start though, I want to add that it is super easy to install and try out this bundle without any obligations, and I highly recommend contacting us for a trial if you are at all interested in any of this type functionality.

Here is my statement (the theme of this post): the number of usecases this very simple tool can help you out with is very broad.  You can use it to migrate data, or build CSV/FTP type integrations with NetSuite from scratch, or (surprisingly!) you can use it in conjunction with other integration tools (like Informatica, Boomi, Cast Iron, Mule, SnapLogic, etc…) to make your life much easier when it comes to your NetSuite specifics.

Here is my analogy.  Please read this part.  :)  Years ago, when I wanted to upload a picture on my cell phone to Facebook, I had to plug my phone into my computer and move all the pictures to my computer, and then I had to login to Facebook and click an Upload Pictures button, which then opened a file explorer to find the pics I just transferred to my comp.  Yuck.  Today, I have a Facebook app on my phone, and all I do is tell the picture (on my phone directly) to go to Facebook.  Software integration tools can also evolve in this same way, and for NetSuite, we now have a SuiteBundle (just like a Facebook application for your phone) that lets you pick a Saved Search (from within) and send it out.  Pretty cool!

Let’s look at the usecases I brought up before my analogy in more detail.  If you need to import CSV data the tool handles more record types than NetSuite’s CSV tool.  In addition to this, the data mapping interface is much easier to use than any other mapping tool on the market – since it is built inside NetSuite.  The video above has a little preview of our new mapping interface (I believe the snippet is towards the end).

If you need to export data it gets even easier.  Why?  Because we let you select existing saved searches (anyone familiar with NetSuite should be familiar with saved searches) and simply push them to your FTP site.  You dont have to map anything, or build any web service queries, and you can take advantage of the super powerful functionality NetSuite saved searches give you to join record types, summarize results, incorporate formula fields, etc…  And yes we still let you control the little file details like column delimiter, file name, etc…

The last usecase (the one that most people do not think about) is how this tool can be used in conjunction with other integration platforms.  When building NetSuite integration flows, these other tools typically require someone to choose records and map fields from WSDL/API defined ids and build NetSuite specific connections that require dedicated credentials, and so on.  But these other integration tools also support the very basic usecase of picking up CSV files from an FTP site and mapping and putting them in other places.  So why not use our new SuiteBundle and take advantage of a saved search that you already have or can easily build, and then export that search to an FTP site on a scheduled basis, and then use your current integration platform to take it from there.  Or, why not use your existing integration platform to generate a simple CSV file for data you want imported into NetSuite, and put it on an FTP site, and then use our SuiteBundle to map that data to a NetSuite record type and then import it.  A nice match?  I think so…

Unleashing the power of the SmartClient

$

The Celigo Excel SmartClient is such a powerful and versatile tool that it could be used in situations which even we had not anticipated. Sometimes our Support team gets interesting “how to” questions  that lead us to solve some interesting problems with the SmartClient. Creating and updating NetSuite Custom Lists is one great example.

During a large integration project, one of Celigo’s customers, needed to an efficient way to create and update a number of custom lists. These lists typically contains 1000′s of product attributes that have to be amended periodically, even after the project’s go live date. The CSV Import doesn’t support Custom Lists, so they had to look for an alternative. Rather than extending an already tight project schedule by building a custom import script, the Celigo Professional Services team pointed them to the SmartClient. Now, if you look in the SmartClient menu, you will not see Custom Lists listed as a record type you can build a template with. But, SmartClient has a pretty neat feature where it can support almost any NetSuite Webservices record type by simply importing a tiny configuration file containing as little as 3 lines of instructions. With this we were able to avoid a custom implementation that could have cost thousands of dollars and deliver this feature for free with their SmartClient subscription.

This is just one simple example. There are customers who’ve built complex applications on top of the SmartClient with Excel expressions and macros. One of which you would have seen during our SuiteLive webinar. So what have you not done with the SmartClient? Have you explored the full potentional of the application that you subscribed to?

SmartClient 2.3.2 brings Office 2013 support and many more great features!

We are also rolling out the next big release for the SmartClient. This version’s a bit special as it moves the SmartClient to two new platforms; Excel 2013 and NetSuite WSDL 2012.1. The upgrade to the new WSDL means we can now support some of the most requested record types including Inventory Transfers and Transfer Orders. Please read the full release note for more details.

Better Monitoring and Order Cancellation Support for the Amazon Connector April 2013 release

$

With our continued commitment to provide the best integration for Amazon Seller Central with NetSuite, the latest April 2013 release (version 2.2.0) of the Amazon Connector includes some exciting features that we would like to share with you.

This version is available now and all our existing customers have been auto-upgraded.

The major highlights of the April 2013 release are as follows:

Integration Dashboard:

Now there is much easier way to monitor the sync between Amazon Seller Central and NetSuite with the revamped Integration Dashboard that replaces the Control Panel to monitor and track all the workflows.

The Integration Dashboard can be launched within NetSuite from Setup > Integrations > Celigo Integrator.

With the activity stream interface it is easy to monitor progress of specific workflows and their success.

AmazonIntegrationDashboard

The stream can be filtered either by workflows — by clicking on the specific flow on the left side, or by the duration by selecting the duration in the “Since” field. Even though all the flows are auto-scheduled to run every half an hour, there is still the provision to run a flow immediately by right-clicking on it.

The Action log shows all the errors and the “Needs Attention” option allows seeing all the workflows that did not complete. The pie chart and the bar-charts on the right give a quick view into the sync status.

Cancellation Support

As much as you would like customers to not cancel orders, customers will do that from time to time, especially on easy-to-use e-commerce sites like Amazon. Failure to account for and act on such cancellations in time results in inventory mismanagement, shipping costs and worst of all customer dissatisfaction.

Now, the Amazon Connector tracks the line item cancellations and the full order cancellations effortlessly. These are scheduled to run every half an hour.

More information on the Amazon Order Cancellation Feed can be found here in help notes.

Global Support

With the world being flat, it makes sense for businesses to sell globally. With the Amazon Connector, customers can now sell to United States, Europe, and China. Also the Connector seamlessly lets you integrate with the major Amazon shipping carriers and their plans including DHL, FedEx, and UPS across the world.

Other Enhancements / Fixes

We always value feedback from our customers. We have reviewed some of your recent feedback and addressed some of the most important issues to ensure you keep running fast! Here are some of the notable fixes/enhancements:

  • Ability to process larger files effectively (breaking the batch into smaller pieces)
  • Processing report that reschedules itself itself when it is throttled by Amazon or NetSuite
  • Support for all the special characters including escaped control characters like " and < etc.
  • Better Error message grouping

The release notes for Amazon Connector 2.2.0 can be found here

We look forward to your feedback. Please contact us at product-management@celigo.com with your comments and ideas so that we can make your experience better!!

Rosalina Kessman, Senior Product Manager for the NetSuite for Outlook client, will be speaking at NetSuite’s SuiteWorld 2013 Tuesday 5/14/13 from 1:45-2:45pm PST in the Customer Relationship Management breakout session named “Leverage MS Outlook to Track All Your Business Activities in NetSuite.” If you’re attending SuiteWorld, we encourage you to attend this session to get a glimpse of the Outlook client in action.

The new NetSuite Outlook client was designed and built from the ground up as a new product. It addresses stability, performance, and usability issues as well as provides a multitude of advanced features.

  • Sync contacts, tasks, events, and phone calls between Outlook and NetSuite more quickly, easily, and reliably.
  • Attach Outlook emails to more NetSuite records than ever before – contacts, customers, opportunities, estimates, sales orders, projects, invoices, purchase orders, & cases
  • Sync attendees along with calendar events
  • Duplicate detection on contacts and events to reduce the creation of duplicate records
  • Additions, modifications, and deletions in Outlook sync instantly to NetSuite
  • New admin configuration tool enables administrators to centrally control what and how users sync as well as predefine preferences and sync criteria making it even easier for end users to get up and running with the client.

The Outlook client is expected to be one of the most widely-deployed plug-ins for NetSuite. We’re very excited to have the Celigo name on this product and look forward to it being used by thousands of NetSuite users. Many thanks to the combined Celigo and NetSuite project team for their considerable effort in getting this product to market.

Custom Quote Configurator for EPSTEXAS

Overview

A storage solutions company specialized in servicing the healthcare and medical industry providing medical equipment and creating efficient space saving storage and material handling solutions chose NetSuite as a solution to address their complications of disparate systems.

EPSTEXAS has specific quoting needs and required quote expediency and automation to adhere to their business processes.

EPSTEXAS chose Celigo to implement NetSuite and customize NetSuite to meet their quoting and sales proposal needs.

Challenges

EPSTEXAS was using three, loosely integrated point solution applications which lead to manual processes and errors. Accessing data to answer customer or vendor inquiries was cumbersome and slow.

When personnel were working remotely, the use of VPN and gaining access to their data was awkward and time consuming, therefore a web based solution was required.

EPSTEXAS needed to build BOM’s efficiently and address vendor volume discounting and cut back on data entry, there was no universal way of streamlining this process within this environment.

Solution

Celigo implemented NetSuite and designed a custom quote configurator solution which allows EPSTEXAS to:

  • Create Assembly/BOM items while in a Quote.
    • This solution consisted of a set of features designed to facilitate the creation of a new Assembly/BOM while creating a customer Quote, based on a similar or suitable Assembly/BOM as a baseline. At the end of this workflow, the newly-created Assembly is inserted into the Quote and added to the item master.
  • Auto compute a custom cost and custom selling price for the newly added Assembly item, based on Vendor Discount Schedule, followed by setting values in each line item from a quote level margin.
    • EPSTEXAS has a highly specialized way of determining an Assembly/BOM’s and individual items custom cost, as it is based on an accumulated custom list price value for all qualified items on the customer quote
    • The purpose and use of this custom cost is to compute it on the fly and source it into a custom column field when the item is selected in a quote. While in the quote, the user will use the custom cost to determine the custom selling price of the item.
    • The Selling Price is determined for each line-item based on manipulating % Margin and $ Selling Price at the line level, so a cumulative value can be rolled up to a sub-total for the quote. This solution allows for the $ Selling Price to be calculated at the order level by updating all line items using a % Margin value entered in a custom body field at the header level.
  • Access data from previous quotes/transactions to aid in the quoting process by providing direct accessibility to that data while creating a quote.
    • Celigo designed a custom popup field displaying variables from a previous transaction.

Bottom Line

The implementation of this solution has streamlined operations and redundant data entry has been eliminated which has in turn reduced data entry errors.

Improved data access for customer and vendor inquiries has resulted in providing better customer service and improving vendor relationships.

The Celigo solution configured in the NetSuite application has allowed EPSTEXAS to enhance their excellent customer service ensuing greater customer satisfaction which in turn has increased their revenue.

20130515_072806Celigo is busy at SuiteWorld 2013 here in sunny San Jose, CA. Meeting new customers and greeting old customers is all in a days work for one of the busiest NetSuite Solution providers in the world.

Yesterday was a great day for Celigo. Our in booth demos of the new CloudExtend 2.0, our SmartClient, and our Integrator for CSV were well attended.

JP Foerster introduced our CloudExtend 2.0 to a standing room only crowd and it was very well received.

Attendees see our new CloudExtend for GoogleApps for the first time.

As someone who was formerly a NetSuite customer (since 1999) and small business owner I had attended previous SuiteWorld Conferences as an attendee methodically making my way through the many breakout sessions as well as visiting the partners in the Expo Hall. I sold my business recently and joined Celigo to head up Account Management. This was my first SuiteWorld working with a sponsor as opposed to being an attendee.

I’d like to thank every Celigo customer that came up and introduced themselves. It is great to be able to place a face with a name. What an awesome group of customers we have. I had planned on attending a few breakout sessions but client meetings went back to back 3 days in a row. I’m told the sessions will be available on NetSuite’s support page soon and look forward to attending the sessions I missed, especially the recurring billing.

_DSC2333 We also solved a lot of customer issues with our solutions over the past few days. CloudExtend for Google Apps was a big seller and our sessions were standing room only. Many customers saw our new Integrator for CSV for the first time. As JP Foerster provided the demo I watched our customer reactions along with Scott Henderson, our CTO, as they saw our revolutionary field mapping solution for the first time. Every attendee had the same reaction, their jaws dropped and they turned to each other with a smile.

When I interviewed at Celigo, the Director of Services, Rula Kallas, told me that Celigo employees work hard and play hard. I got a taste of this when I joined them for SuiteWorld 2013 in San Jose, CA. After a long rewarding day the Celigo employees ventured out to the NetSuite Gala where the band ‘Cake’ performed for the attendees.

Since my early days of working at NetSuite in 2003, I wondered openly to my close friends & colleagues — “…is NetSuite a Rock Star company?  Or is NetSuite instead a rock band that future Rock Star companies will look back to as the source of their inspiration…?”  Think Robert Johnson for “Led Zeppelin”, or “Big Star” for “R.E.M.”, or “The Pixies” for “Nirvana”…

Back in 2003 I was hired as the first member of NetSuite’s Professional Services team to work on web store implementations. This year, “Ten Years Gone” at SuiteWorld 2013, in the more technical SuiteCommerce Advanced track — NetSuite’s recent acquisition play towards an e-commerce hit — a lyric from CEO Zach Nelson’s keynote kept echoing through my head… “Omni-Channel Commerce… ”.  What I realized is that NetSuite isn’t just aiming for an e-commerce hit album by providing an Amazon.com-like experience for the rest of us…  No, instead NetSuite has raised its sights in an attempt to provide a whole new genre of commerce — a web-based transactional layer for each of its five core verticals, and beyond.  The facet-based e-commerce infrastructure, built on a contemporary Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services seemingly always in mind, within a truly “responsive-design” framework — a model that when it comes together, will very likely get the crowd to their feet…

And then while in another technical break-out session, a different lyric from CTO & Founder Evan Goldberg’s keynote resonated with me: “Unified Billing…“.  In productizing the Contract Renewals module for NetSuite and later embracing Zuora’s “Subscription Economy” in full — I know all too well the members-of-the-band challenges of “omni-billing”.  Sure, recurring billing is tricky — but throw some physical products or professional services in the mix — and most recurring billing systems fall over.  Likewise, try billing customers over time or for time itself in a “Product Economy” app, and it gets really confused…  what is the SKU — an hour, a day, a month?  So when NetSuite announced its forthcoming release of “Unified Billing” at SuiteWorld 2013, I could not be more thrilled at that power chord riff…  What could be more exciting to a billing geek than being able to bill for all products (things), services (time), subscriptions (recurring over time) and usage (tracked consumption) *on a single invoice*.  Enough tracks there to fill at least one hit album, if not more…

So, needless to say — when NetSuite announced the selection of local Sacramento band “Cake” to play SuiteWorld 2013 — in similar fashion I was left wondering “…is Cake the rock band that NetSuite is asking to be compared with…?”  Maybe I was reading too much into the choice of act — but the people I asked at the event who knew of “Cake” were definitely excited to see them live, as was I…  But most of us were left wondering — is this the ideal event or venue to see one of the better alternative bands of the 1990s?  Meaning, would “Cake” really be able to entertain, or better yet *rock* this mostly corporate technology crowd in San Jose?  When lead singer John McCrae ended “Cake’s” rather bland set with “…Come out to a *real* “Cake” show, and you’ll hear some great music…”, I concluded that “Cake” is no longer a band of Rock Stars, if they ever were…

However, If NetSuite can pull off either one — or better yet *both* of “Omni-Channel Commerce” *and* “Unified Billing” — then they will be well on their way to a Grammy-winning album or two… //jp

Thanks to all of you who attended our breakout session in SuiteWorld 2013 where JP Foerster – Director of Solutions, Celigo showcased the preview of the new CloudExtend for Gmail to a standing-room only Partner Break-out crowd.

The wait is over and CloudExtend for Gmail will be available for everyone on June 30!!

CloudExtend for Gmail has been completely redesigned to make it simple, fast and powerful. It allows the users to save the important email conversations to NetSuite right from Gmail.

With the browser extensions installed for Chrome and Firefox, users will see a small non-intrusive Celigo ‘O’ button below the Reply button for all the emails. Clicking this opens Celigo CloudExtend for Gmail popup that allows you to save the emails and their attachments to the respective NetSuite record. You can as well do a search to associate it to another NetSuite record or create a new NetSuite record right from your Gmail window without going to NetSuite by clicking on the Netsuite ‘N’ icon next to the search. We support all the major record types – Lead, Customer , Prospect, Employee, Vendor, Opportunity, Sales Order, Invoice, Quote, Task etc.

Want more? You also have an option to send and save your message to NetSuite right from the Compose window. So, next time you are sending an email to that customer or Prospect – do not just send it – ‘Celigo Send’ it. Which would ensure your conversation is tracked in NetSuite for future reference along with sending it.

For Internet Explorer users, they can always launch the Celigo bookmarklet by clicking on the bookmark created.

Once an email is associated with a NetSuite record, the user can always find the email in the Gmail subtab for the particular NetSuite record.

How to get started?

For new CloudExtend for Gmail users, once your NetSuite Administrator has installed the CloudExtend bundle, procured Licenses and completed Account setup, you should receive an email for the individual setup. After a minor guided process, your Gmail would be ready to tete-a-tete with NetSuite.

For existing CloudExtend for Gmail users, the new release should be available automatically as soon as they install the browser extension / bookmarklet. However, the earlier Gmail gadget would continue to show up unless that is removed by your Gmail administrator by following the steps that are mentioned here.

The release notes for CloudExtend for Gmail 2.0 can be found here.

NetSuite SuiteWorld 2013 was bigger than ever, this year. If you attended it, we hope you got a chance to visit Celigo at our stall. Now that all the celebration is over, we are back to work with full excitement and energy.

We completed another wonderful release for Amazon Connector (2.3.0). All our existing customers have been auto-upgraded already.

Without further ado, let us get to the major highlights of this release:

 Support for Promotional Sales:

Now you can specify a Sale Price and Sale period (Sale Start Date, Sale End date) for items in NetSuite and the discounted price is shown in Amazon for those items during the promotion period.

This can be configured by going to the custom Amazon tab for the Item in NetSuite and updating the “Amazon Sale Price is Active” as checked. Also, the relevant Sale Price Amount, Start Date and End Date needs to be updated.

Once the Item Pricing Export is run, which runs automatically every half an hour, the details are updated in Amazon Seller Central accordingly and the buyers see the new sale price during the specified Sale duration.

                          Promotional Sale Support

It is also possible to specify a price level to use as this item’s sale price. Please contact Celigo Support for more information on how to configure this feature.

NetSuite Kit Items Export

Amazon connector 2.3 supports exporting NetSuite Kit items to Amazon. This is the new item type being supported for export in addition to the regular Inventory item and Pre-Built Assembly Items.

Kit items are available only for the Product Data, Product Pricing, and Product Images export flows currently.

MarketPlaces Support

With version 2.3 of the connector you have more control over the marketplaces used by the integration.  Not only can you export and import data from different lists of marketplaces, but you can also set the marketplaces that each flow should use on a flow-by-flow basis.

If you choose to not use the flow-level marketplace list then the global marketplaces lists will be used by default.

The global settings for Marketplaces can be updated in the Orders and Exports tabs of the ‘Amazon Integration Config’. Please consult Celigo for more on this.

Process specific Orders on-demand

There is a provision to process a list of Orders immediately on-demand by their Order IDs. This can be done to bypass the regular Order Import queue and satisfy the critical order that needs to be fulfilled immediately.

This can be done by the administrator by putting the list of comma separated values of the Order IDs in ‘MFN Test Orders To Import’ under ‘Amazon Integration Config’. Once these orders are imported, the values should be removed and saved for the regular order processing to occur.

Ship method mappings for different domains

Ability to map different shipping methods across different Amazon domains. The shipping method would be used to export the shipping information along with Fulfillment Export.

Custom Order Import Window (Days to Today filter)

There is now the ability to set a custom number of days in the past to import merchant-fulfilled Amazon orders (MFN Orders), FBA orders, and orders cancelled in Amazon.

These could be configured on the Amazon Integration Config record’s “Import Window” sub-tab, and entering a value in those fields will configure that flow’s Amazon order search.

Note that the default “Days to Today” values will be used if these fields are left blank or an invalid value is used like 0 or negative numbers.  The current default values for these flows are:

  • Merchant-fulfilled Orders created in the last 30 days
  • FBA orders created in the last 5 days
  • Cancelled orders created in the last 14 days
